2012 Ryder Cup Ticket Lottery Opens Monday

The lottery for tickets to the 2012 Ryder Cup at Medinah Country Club opens on Monday, June 20, 2011 at the Ryder Cup website. Those who register will be notified in October if they’ve won the opportunity to purchase tickets for the 2012 event.

The PGA of America is also looking for approximately 3,500 volunteers to help conduct the 2012 Ryder Cup. Interested potential volunteers can also register at the Ryder Cup website for the chance to be selected.

The 2012 Ryder Cup will take place September 25-30 at Medinah Country Club in Medinah, IL, near Itasca. Medinah Country Club is a private club with nearly 600 members and containing three golf courses, including Course #3, a 7,508 yard behemoth, which has hosted three U.S. Opens (1949, 1975, 1990) and two PGA Championships (1999, 2006).

The captains for the 2012 Ryder Cup are Davis Love III for the United States and José María Olazábal for Europe. This will be the first time Illinois has staged the Ryder Cup. Europe will be the defending Cup holder, having defeated the USA by 14½ points to 13½ in the 2010 competition at Celtic Manor Resort, Wales.
