Cog Hill Golf Maintenance Staff Preparing for 2012 Golf Season

Cog Hill Golf Maintenance Staff Preparing for 2012 Golf SeasonThe mild Chicago golf winter has been a great time for local Chicago golf courses like Cog Hill to get ahead on their 2012 golf course projects. Cog Hill’s grounds department works to sharpen blades, paint existing structures and perform much-needed preventative maintenance on their lawn mowers and machines. The Cog Hill staff estimates that they perform over 100 oil changes in the winter months.

Cog Hill Golf Maintenance Staff Preparing for 2012 Golf SeasonCog Hill owns and maintains more than 550 Yamaha golf carts. Each cart has its own inventory and check list of parts needed to keep it in working condition. Head Cart Technician Ricardo Zurita oversees the entire process, monitoring the maintenance process along with making sure the bodies and outsides of the golf carts are refurbished and ready for spring.

The Cog Hill equipment technicians are hard at work making sure all of the lawn mowers, utility vehicles, and other specialty tools are in working order for the 2012 Chicago golf season. Since golf course greens are maintained at a lower height, the green mowers are adjusted differently than a fairway or tee mower. This type of work takes great care and patience.

All of these items are sanded and repainted so that they are ready for the upcoming season. All of the work that the Cog Hill staff is currently working on should make the course conditions excellent for 2012.
