SUMMARY:Constellation Senior Players Championship
DESCRIPTION:The best players on the Champions Tour return to Chicagoland as the Constellation Senior Players Championship visits Exmoor Country Club in Highland Park July 12-15\, 2018. The Constellation Senior Players Championship is one of the five major championships on the Champions Tour and the winner gains entry into the following season’s Players Championship on the PGA Tour. \nThis will be the first time the PGA Tour Champions has held a major in the Chicagoland area since 1997. And it follows the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship which will be held in May about 90 minutes from Chicago in Benton Harbor\, Michigan. \nThe Western Golf Association is the host organization for the Constellation Senior Players Championship at Exmoor. The WGA has hosted the PGA Tour’s BMW Championship\, formerly the Western Open\, along with numerous amateur events each year. \nProceeds from The Constellation Senior Players Championship go to the Evans Scholars Foundation\, which is managed by the Western Golf Assoication and provides caddies with full housing and tuition scholarships to college. The BMW Championship generates roughly $3 million a year for scholarships. \nThe 2017 Constellation Senior Players Championship was played at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills\, Maryland. Scott McCarron shot 18 under par to win the event and the $420\,000 first place check. \nExmoor Country Club was founded 1896 and was one of 11 charter clubs that established the Western Golf Association in 1899. The course was initially designed by H.J. Tweedie\, but was redesigned in 1914 by famed architect Donald Ross. Ross utilized his trademark green contours and strategic bunkering to bring the course up to early 20th century standards.
