Indian Hill Club is an 18-hole private facility located in Winnetka, Illinois and featuring a par 71 golf course originally designed by Donald Ross.
For over 40 years, Caddyshack has been one of the most frequently quoted golf movies ever created. The inspiration for Bushwood Country Club was Indian Hill Club in Winnetka, which is where the Murray brothers worked as caddies. Brian Doyle-Murray was one of the writers of the movie and his brother Bill played the famous role of unhinged groundskeeper Carl Spackler.
The legendary Chick Evans, who was the first amateur to win both the U.S. Amateur and the U.S. Open in the same year (1916), was a founding member of Indian Hill Club. Evans used the money he earned from his success in golf to help create the Evans Scholars Foundation in 1930, which is a nonprofit organization that provides full tuition and housing college scholarships to golf caddies.
Operated by the Western Golf Association, the Evans Scholars Foundation has helped more than 11,000 caddies graduate from college.
