The world’s greatest golfer will visit Barrington next week and tour a golf course he designed more than 20 years ago. In 1989 Jack Nicklaus created Wynstone Golf Club in North Barrington and on Wednesday, August 17, the 18-time major champion will tour the course with the club’s board of directors. The group plans to discuss the future of the layout during the tour and then complete the review with club members during a luncheon.
“We are absolutely thrilled that Jack has chosen to visit our club next month,” said Brian Husselbee, president of Wynstone Golf Club. “Since the course opened, our members have insisted on maintaining the golf course to match the superior standards that Jack has set. We have stayed true to the original signature design status of the course, and will always follow this theme.”
Wynstone Golf Club is ranked #20 by Golf Digest on its list of the best private golf courses in the state and is the only private Nicklaus Signature Golf Course in Illinois. With a course rating of 74.9 and a slope of 142, Wynstone is one of the more challenging golf courses in the Chicago golf vicinity.
