What is Your Winter Golf Goal This Year?

GOAL_SETTINGThe golf season has come and gone in Chicago, and as usual, it flew by. For some of you, it may have been a summer of shooting really good scores while for others it may have been a struggle. Regardless of how you feel you played this season, the winter is here which means one thing, it’s time to get better! The winter is the time I like to work with most of my students because we can to their games without affecting how they play on the course.

The first step that needs to be accomplished is you need to be able to answer this question: At the start of next golf season, what would I like to be better at?

This is extremely important and one that with my students we have already begun to answer with the last few weeks of the season. The reason the answer to this question is so important is that you need to be able to schedule and create a purpose for your practice. Without purpose, then you are just hitting golf balls and not really improving a skill that will transfer to the golf course.

An example of what your goal might be is that you want to improve your scoring zone game (100 yards and in). This is one that is a requirement for almost all my students in the winter when we analyze their games and at the Buffalo Grove Golf Dome where I teach in the winter, there are plenty of resources to work on it.

It’s sad to see the golf season go but as we get ready for the winter, make sure you have a goal of what you would like to improve. That way when next season rolls around, you will be ready to make it your best one yet!
