Mistwood Golf Club in Romeoville is a spectacular 18-hole course that features split fairways, terraced greens and multiple decisions that need to be made on each shot.
Mistwood features two remarkable par-5’s – the 566-yard 8th hole and the 559-yard 15th hole. Both holes play alongside Lake St. James and require equal amounts of strategy and skill. The 8th hole fairway is bisected by large hills and moguls. You may hit a great shot and still be faced with a downhill lie in the rough. This is one hole where club selection is key.
Mistwood is the home of The Illinois Women’s Open, which is a three-day, 54-hole state championship of golf. The tournament, founded in 1995 by the late Chicagoland Golf editor and publisher Phil Kosin, is open to female-at-birth professionals and amateurs aged 17 and over who reside within the states of Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Acclaimed golf course architect Ray Hearn designed Mistwood Golf Club when it opened in 1998 and returned in 2012 and 2013 to manage the course renovation. Upon completion of the renovation, Golf Magazine listed it as one of the Best Renovations You Can Play in January, 2014, and one of its top Renovations of the Year in the world six months later.
