Designed by Ray Hearn, and centered around a beautiful, 65-acre lake, Mistwood Golf Club in Romeoville is a dynamic test of golf on a truly wonderful tract of land. This spectacular 18-hole course features split fairways, terraced greens and multiple decisions that need to be made on each shot.

Although the course can be quite a test from the back tees, the number of forced carries is more than reasonable. In fact, a conservative game plan, especially on the six holes that border Lake St. James, will most likely yield better results than an aggressive approach.
Mistwood features two remarkable par-5’s – the 566-yard 8th hole and the 559-yard 15th hole. Both holes play alongside Lake St. James and require equal amounts of strategy and skill. The 8th hole fairway is bisected by large hills and moguls. You may hit a great shot and still be faced with a downhill lie in the rough. This is one hole where club selection is key.
The 15th hole is a dogleg left across the Lake. It begins with the monumental decision of how much water you’re willing to cross. Hit a solid tee shot and judge your distance properly and you’re in good shape to reach this par 5 in two. Miss on either your distance or swing and you’re in for a struggle.
Mistwood is the home of The Illinois Women’s Open, which is a three-day, 54-hole state championship of golf. The tournament, founded in 1995 by the late Chicagoland Golf editor and publisher Phil Kosin, is open to female-at-birth professionals and amateurs aged 17 and over who reside within the states of Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
