One of the elite private courses in the western suburbs of Chicago will once again be host to an elite golf event. Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove was recently announced as the host course for the 2015 Palmer Cup. Named after golf legend Arnold Palmer, The Palmer Cup is an annual team golf competition between American and European college golfers. Former participants in the event include Matt Kuchar, Northwestern’s Luke Donald, 2009 US Open Champion Lucas Glover and 2010 US Open Champion Graeme McDowell.
“The Palmer Cup continues to be played at great venues,” said Arnold Palmer. “I’m aware of the great success of the Solheim Cup recently played at Rich Harvest Farms and the most recent Ryder Cup Captain’s Challenge. I am pleased and grateful that Jerry Rich has agreed to host the event there. It should be another great Palmer Cup.”
“We are extremely excited to be hosting the 2015 Palmer Cup,” said Jerry Rich, Chairman and Owner of Rich Harvest Farms.“ This event is in tune with everything we do here from our Kids Golf Foundation, caddie program, and commit¬ment to amateur golf, as well as being the home of the Northern Illinois University Huskies Men’s and Women’s Golf Teams. Arnold Palmer’s vision for bringing together the highly talented collegiate players with the young caddies and youth in the Junior Clinic is a true culmination of what is most important – growing the game. My team and I couldn’t be happier to be a part of this special event.”
Rich Harvest Farms is an ultra-private, members-only club, consistently ranked in Golf Digest’s America’s 100 Greatest Golf Courses. Owned and built by Jerry Rich, the course consists of 18 perfectly manicured holes and is a 1,820-acre showcase of nature and agriculture. Rich Harvest Farms can play at a massive 7,715 yards and should be a tremendous test for the top collegiate golfers. The course has hosted the 2009 Solheim Cup 2009 and will be hosting the LPGA International Crown in 2016.
The United States easily won the 2013 Palmer Cup at Wilmington Country Club in Delaware by the score of 20½ to 9½. The event will take place next year at Walton Heath Golf Club, which was founded in 1903 and is located near Walton-on-the-Hill in Surrey, England.
