Chicago Golf welcomed a new and improved practice facility recently with the opening of The Players Club of Chicago Golf Learning Center in Justice. This 26-acre facility has room for 55 grass and mat teeing areas both indoors and out.
“With the highest level of service possible,” said Schaumburg native and golf professional Mike Mandakas, “I am trying to create Chicago’s premiere golf practice facility … with all levels of golf.” Mandakas has served as a golf professional from 2003 to 2005 at Medinah Country Club in DuPage County and, most recently, in the same role from 2005 to 2009 at the far south suburban Olympia Fields Country Club.
“This place is welcoming for anyone who wants to go out and hit balls, from the experienced to novice golfer on their own or working with a golf pro,” he said, noting he and three to four other Professional Golf Association members will serve as the instructional staff. “Golfers could come out here and practice on country club-like grass.”
Other features of The Players Club of Chicago will include a short game area for bunker work and chipping off to the side and an over-the-water Par 3 hole — an amenity unlike anything offered at competing schools or ranges.
