Seven Bridges Golf Club

SEVEN_BRIDGES_GOLFDebuting in July of 1991, Seven Bridges Golf Club in Woodridge is a challenging test of golf that was designed by one Chicago’s top golf course architects, Dick Nugent. The 18-hole layout weaves through mature oak trees and a meandering stream over rolling terrain, offering numerous scenic vistas.

A portion of the land on which Seven Bridges sits was once home to the 36-hole Woodridge Golf Club, which was one of Chicago’s first daily-fee golf courses. The Village of Woodridge actually takes its name from this former golf facility that was quite popular throughout the Chicagoland area.

Despite initial community resentment to the new development, course architect Nugent helped win over local residents by preserving much of the site’s natural wetlands and preserving as many mature trees as possible. The success of his efforts led the Woodridge community and Chicago golfers, to embrace Seven Bridges Golf Club as one of the top tracks in the western suburbs.

The golf course is extremely well maintained and is among the top manicured facilities that you’ll find in the area. A mix of open fairways and mature surroundings is a cornerstone of the two-sided approach this golf course presents.

SEVEN_BRIDGES_GOLFThe original front and back nines were rotated after the course opened. What was once the tenth hole is now the first, providing a solid target on this 531-yard par five. Both par fives on the front nine are reachable for a longer hitter, providing a solid opportunity for a healthy start.

In contrast, the back nine offers a stern test for golfers with an inability to maintain a straight and narrow ball flight. All nine holes on the back are impacted by water hazards, including the tenth hole that features water on both sides of the fairway. Thankfully, most golfers will have nine holes to warm up before accepting the challenge of this daunting back nine.

Seven Bridges Golf Club plays at 7,111 yards from the tips with an intimidating 144 slope. Tee selection based on your handicap is highly important and can significantly impact your results. This is one course where it’s highly advised that you follow the recommended tee boxes based on your handicap to maximize your fun and enjoyment.
