SQAIRZ SPEED3 Golf Shoe Review: Stability You Can Feel From the Ground Up

Golfers tend to fall into one of two camps when it comes to SQAIRZ shoes. They’ve either become loyal believers, or they’ve never been able to get past the unconventional square-toe design. After spending time walking and playing in the SQAIRZ SPEED3, I came away with a much different perspective than I expected.

Now I will admit, I was already a fan of the SQAIRZ Pro S2 LT. But the SPEED3 LT isn’t a shoe that tries to compete by being the lightest or flashiest on the shelf. Instead, it focuses on something every golfer needs but often overlooks: creating a more stable connection with the ground. After multiple rounds, that’s exactly what stood out.

First Impressions

The most recognizable feature is, of course, the squared-off toe box. It immediately looks different from nearly every other golf shoe on the market. While it takes a few holes to get used to visually, the design quickly begins to make sense once you start walking.

Unlike many athletic-style golf shoes that taper toward the front, the SPEED3 allows your toes to spread naturally. Rather than squeezing your forefoot together, the extra room creates a noticeably more comfortable platform throughout the round.

SQAIRZ built the shoe around the idea that stability begins with your feet, and the wider toe box is central to that philosophy.

Comfort Right Out of the Box

One pleasant surprise was how little break-in time the shoes required. We’ve seen this before with the Sqairz ProS2, but it’s always nice to feel like you can hit the ground running… literally.

The microfiber upper feels soft without sacrificing support, and the interior cushioning strikes a nice balance between comfort and responsiveness. During several walking rounds, my feet remained comfortable from the opening tee shot through the final green.

The included Blumaka performance footbed deserves special mention. Unlike many stock insoles that golfers eventually replace, this one provides noticeable cushioning and energy return while keeping your foot securely planted inside the shoe.

SQAIRZ says the footbed delivers additional cushioning and energy return compared with traditional insoles. Whether or not you measure those numbers, the practical result is less foot fatigue late in the round.

Stability Is the Story

The biggest strength of the SPEED3 isn’t comfort. It’s stability.

Throughout the golf swing, I consistently felt more connected to the ground. Whether hitting driver or mid-irons, my feet felt planted without feeling restricted. The TPU heel stabilizer, combined with the broader toe platform, gives the shoe an exceptionally solid foundation.

As someone who has battled swing inconsistency over the years, I appreciate anything that reduces unnecessary movement. The SPEED3 doesn’t magically fix your golf swing, but it does provide a stable platform that allows you to make your best swing more consistently.

That’s an important distinction.

SQAIRZ has made bold marketing claims over the years regarding additional distance and swing speed. Personally, I didn’t experience dramatic yardage gains, and I think golfers should approach those claims with realistic expectations.

What I did notice was increased confidence in my footing, particularly on uneven lies and during aggressive driver swings. Better stability can certainly contribute to more consistent ball striking, even if it doesn’t automatically produce longer drives.

Outstanding Traction

Chicago golfers know we rarely play on perfectly dry fairways.

Morning dew, damp rough, soft spring conditions and uneven terrain demand reliable traction. The SPEED3 excels here.

Its hybrid outsole combines six replaceable Softspikes with more than 290 traction points throughout the sole, creating outstanding grip in virtually every condition I encountered.

Even during aggressive swings on wet turf, I never felt my feet slipping.

An added bonus is SQAIRZ’s “Free Spikes for Life” program, which can help offset maintenance costs over the life of the shoe.

Waterproof Without Feeling Heavy

Waterproof shoes often feel bulky or trap heat during summer rounds.

The SPEED3 manages to avoid both problems surprisingly well.

The waterproof microfiber upper kept my feet dry during early-morning rounds while remaining breathable enough that my feet never felt overly warm. The fully gusseted tongue also helps keep moisture and debris out of the shoe.

SQAIRZ backs the shoe with a two-year waterproof guarantee, which should provide additional confidence for golfers who play frequently throughout the Midwest golf season.

A Few Minor Drawbacks

No golf shoe is perfect.

If you strongly prefer an ultra-minimalist, running-shoe feel, the SPEED3 may initially feel more structured than you’re accustomed to. That structure is intentional and contributes directly to the shoe’s stability, but golfers accustomed to extremely flexible shoes will notice the difference.

The square toe also remains a matter of personal taste. While I stopped noticing it after a few rounds, golfers who prioritize traditional styling above all else may need some time to warm up to the design.

Fortunately, from a side profile, the shoe looks far more conventional than it does when viewed from above.

Final Verdict

The SQAIRZ SPEED3 is one of the most stable golf shoes I’ve worn.

Rather than chasing the latest sneaker-inspired trend, SQAIRZ has built a performance shoe around biomechanics, balance and ground connection. Those principles translate into a shoe that feels exceptionally secure throughout the swing while remaining comfortable enough to walk 18 holes.

Will it instantly add distance to your drives? I wouldn’t buy it for that reason alone.

Would I recommend it to golfers looking for exceptional stability, comfort, waterproof protection and all-day support? Absolutely.

For players who value feeling connected to the ground throughout the swing—especially walkers and golfers who regularly encounter changing Midwest conditions—the SPEED3 deserves serious consideration.
