Canal Shores/Out of Space Golf Open – August 7, 2022

Make plans to be a part of the inaugural Canal Shores/Out of Space Golf Open on Sunday, August 7th. Hosted by Joel Murray, this limited field four-person, 10-hole scramble could be the entertainment highlight of the summer season.

In addition to golf, each participant will receive two general admission tickets to the Out of Space at Canal Shores concert later that evening featuring Buddy Guy with Todd Park Mohr of Big Head Todd & The Monsters. This is fifth season season of big-name musical acts on the shores of Lake Michigan presented by Out of Space.

Canal Shores/Out of Space Golf Open golfers will also receive two Canal Shores VIP Access tickets for a complimentary BBQ and bar. The post-golf concert takes place on the beautiful tree-lined 1st and 2nd holes of the course for an absolutely picturesque night minutes away from Lake Michigan, the Baha’i Temple, and all that downtown Evanston has to offer.

Out of Space is the outside presenting arm of Evanston music venue SPACE, which has brought exceptional talent to Chicago’s North Shore since 2008. Other performers this year at Out of Space at Canal Shores include Jenny Lewis & Trampled by Turles on Thursday, August 4th, Elvis Costello & The Imposters on August 5th and Lucinda Williams & Waxahatchee on August 6th.

For nearly 100 years, the land that winds through the Evanston and Wilmette communities along both sides of the North Shore Channel from Green Bay Road to the Baha’i Temple near Wilmette Harbor has been a setting for golf. Canal Shores opened in 1919 and was designed by golf course architect Tom Bendelow, who designed three courses for the founders of the Medinah Country Club.

The course winds through a 100-year-old oak forest alongside Chicago’s “L” and Metra train tracks, traverse several road crossings and are treated to beautiful views of the Bahá’í House of Worship, which creates a golf experience unlike any other.
