John Tovar – ServiceMaster Swing for Service Golf Tournament to Raise Funds for Veterans

Our guest this episode of The Chicago Golf Report podcast is ServiceMaster Restore’s President John Tovar. Last year, ServiceMaster Restore launched the We Serve: Veterans program in partnership with the nonprofit Hire Heroes USA.

The program focuses on raising funds to help make a meaningful impact on the lives of veterans and their families. To officially launch the program, ServiceMaster hosted two fundraising golf tournaments, raising $150,000.

This year, the company is hosting the 2nd annual tournament at Olympia Fields Country Club on July 15 to continue to honor, support, and raise funds for military heroes.

In this interview we discuss:

  • How ServiceMaster Brands partnered with Hire Heroes USA to help veterans find jobs after their service.
  • Why the goal of this event is to not only raise funds but also to inspire franchise owners to hold similar events in their local communities.
  • Where the idea for the event came from and how the company found this cause that aligns with ServiceMaster’s mission of helping people.
  • Why golf outings can be a great way to bring people together and raise money for charity.
  • How the company is looking to create a family-friendly environment at the Olympia Fields event.
