Already, as the rightful owner of an original Orange Whip, their booth at the 2025 Chicago Golf Show presented the opportunity to test and compare the latest Orange Whip version, the “Orange Whip LightSpeed”.
Looking back, it was in 2008 when a revolutionary new idea debuted at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando. With an orange ball mounted on the end of an elaborate fishing rod, the Orange Whip Trainer was born and its popularity has been rolling along ever since with nearly 800,000 units sold. Not surprisingly, the Orange Whip has been named the #1 swing aid golf product in the world with more than 400 professional tour golfers carrying this trainer in their bag.
From bottom to top, three key components make up the patented design of the Original Orange Whip Trainer and its variations:
a) the weighted orange ball; the orange ball replaces the club head and allows you to focus on swinging naturally without worrying about the position of the club face. It’s weighted to promote a fluid swinging motion rather than a jerky hitting motion.
b) the flexible, whippy shaft; the flexible shaft allows you to create lag in your golf swing as you keep the club on plane through impact. All great players create lag which creates power and distance.
c) the counterbalance; the patented Orange Whip counterbalance provides the necessary feedback to train your swing to stay on plane, balanced, and powerful. The counterbalance stabilizes your swing from the start through the finish which is essential in providing critical, immediate feedback on whether your golf swing is on plane and if you are loading and unloading the golf club properly.
All of the Orange Whip trainer versions listed below do not utilize a clubface, and thus are completely viable for swinging right handed or left handed.

Trial Evaluation Summary:
The Orange Whip LightSpeed length (45”) is sized between the Orange Whip Original (47”) and the Orange Whip Midsize (43”). The orange ball is smaller on the LightSpeed than the other two; the counterbalance’s diameter on the grip end is the same for the LightSpeed, Original, and Midsize. The grip is identical on all these models. The thicker portion of the shaft is longer on the Original and Midsize, thus the kick-point is different than the LightSpeed.
Totaling 8 ounces less than the Original (7.2 ounces less than the Midsize), the lighter weight of the LightSpeed is immediately noticeable and produces a dramatically noticeable increase in swing speed.

Original and LightSpeed
The complete line of Orange Whip products are designed to coordinate the upper and lower body to develop a consistent, powerful golf swing. Using the Orange Whip trains your swing to stay on plane, balanced, and in rhythm. Use of the heavier Orange Whip trainers maximizes core golf fitness, strength, flexibility, and coordination by expanding rotational power. The LightSpeed promotes wrist hinge and lag and is a terrific provider of instant feedback that you can hear, feel and correct.
Either Orange Whip version is a perfect warm-up tool before play or practice and great conditioning tool during the offseason.
