Northbrook-based KemperSports was recently honored by Golf Inc. Magazine with multiple awards for the company’s golf business accomplishments. KemperSports properties won six of the 12 awards in the magazine’s Best in Marketing awards. Two KemperSports’ managed properties also captured awards for Development of the Year.
KemperSports builds, owns and manages golf courses, resorts, athletic clubs and lodging venues across the U.S., Caribbean and Central America. The company’s award-winning portfolio includes numerous Chicago area golf courses such as The Glen Club, Bolingbrook Golf Club, Deerpath Golf Course, Hawthorn Woods Country Club, Highland Park Country Club and Harborside International Golf Center.
The national properties that won awards this year for KemperSports included Streamsong Resort in Polk County, Florida, The Prairie Club in Valentine, Nebraska and Harbor Shores in Benton Harbor, Michigan, site of the 2012 and 2014 Senior PGA Championship presented by KitchenAid.
Streamsong Resort took three awards including, Best Website for Public Courses (1st place), Direct Marketing Campaign for Public Courses (2nd place) and Consumer Magazine/Publication Advertisement (2nd place).
The Prairie Club in Valentine, Neb., received a pair of first place awards in the Direct Marketing Campaign for Public Courses and Consumer Magazine/Publication Advertisement categories.
Harbor Shores, host of the 2014 Senior PGA Championship presented by KitchenAid, took home first place honors in the Radio or Audio category.

Golf Inc. Magazine judges for development of the year included architect Rick Baril, of von Hagge, Smelek & Baril, based in Houston, Texas; development consultant Sam Sakocius and Mike Nuzzo, founder and principal of Nuzzo Golf design. The judges based their decision on the aesthetics and routing of the development as well as course vision.
