Chicago’s hosting of the biennial Presidents Cup competition is drawing closer and April has been a busy month for this event’s announcements. Recall that the U.S. Team claimed its 10th straight Presidents Cup at Royal Montreal in 2024 and will again defend the trophy at the 16th edition of the Presidents Cup which will be hosted at Medinah Country Club’s Course No. 3, September 22-27.
International Team Captain Geoff Ogilvy made the announcement that Camilo Villegas will return as a captain’s assistant for the 2026 Presidents Cup.
“I’m thrilled to welcome Camilo back as a captain’s assistant for the 2026 Presidents Cup,” said Ogilvy. “Camilo’s history with this event, his passion for the International Team, and the respect he commands within the locker room make him a tremendous asset. This appointment is really a continuation of the strong working relationship we’ve built over the years, and his experience, energy, and leadership will play an important role as we prepare for Medinah. I’m looking forward to working closely with him as we continue to build on the culture and momentum of the International Team.”
Villegas, 44, will return in 2026 for his third appearance as a captain’s assistant. Villegas was added to the leadership roster in 2022 at Quail Hollow Club by Trevor Immelman and was tapped again in 2024 at Royal Montreal Golf Club by Mike Weir.
