Northbrook-based KemperSports was recently honored as the Club Management Company of the Year for 2012 by BoardRoom magazine in the publication’s annual Excellence in Achievement awards. KemperSports builds, owns and manages golf courses, resorts, athletic clubs and lodging venues around the world, including The Glen Club in Glenview.
The company was nominated for the award after an extensive review process by a panel of experts in the private club industry. According to BoardRoom magazine, the selection of the Club Management Company of the Year award is heavily weighted on the intangible values that a management company creates at a club. KemperSports was chosen for its ability to deliver a high-level of member service to enhance the member experience at all of its clubs.
“Private clubs today are facing challenges like never before,” said Steve Skinner, chief executive officer of KemperSports. “We’ve customized our management solutions to meet the unique needs of club members and owners and strive to be a trusted resource for private club boards. It is an honor to receive this award from BoardRoom magazine.”
In addition to The Glen Club, the company’s portfolio includes nationally-ranked golf courses such as Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, named the No. 1 Golf Resort in North America by Golf Digest and GOLF Magazine; Desert Willow Golf Resort; Harbor Shores, site of the 2012 and 2014 Senior PGA Championship presented by KitchenAid; and Chambers Bay, host of the 2010 U.S. Amateur and the 2015 U.S. Open. Seven KemperSports managed properties were recognized by GOLF Magazine in 2012 as “Top 100 Courses You Can Play.”
Two of KemperSports top executives, CEO Steve Skinner and President Josh Lesnik, were also named to Golf Inc. Magazine’s 2012 list of “Most Powerful People in Golf.” The company was ranked as the sixth largest golf course management company in 2012 by Golf Inc. in the magazine’s summer issue.
