One of the best golf courses in the Chicago suburbs is about to get a lot better. The spectacular Mistwood Golf Club in Romeoville is closing its doors this week to begin $6 million renovation project with the goal opening spring 2012.
Mistwood Golf Club has been the host site of the Illinois Women’s Open and is planning to host the tournament again in 2012, on an even better golf course. The course was originally designed by Michigan architect Ray Hearn, who also will be in charge of the golf course redesign.
The new Mistwood Golf Club will be about 300 yards longer and will feature a new 5,000-square-foot learning center. In addition to new cosmetic features, Hearn will be working to improve drainage, which could sometimes be a problem for the originally layout.
